The most characteristic aspect of the MK1 Chronograph’s aluminum case is the side profile where the chronograph pushers are present. No sharp angles or unnecessary design flourishes. The case profile is classic for the design as well. This is something that many “reissued” timepieces make the mistake of doing. The aluminum material has a natural matte and subdued finish that (again) reinforces the functional history of the design by not appearing to be a piece of jewelry. Dare I say, in the spirit of Mil-Spec without actually being Mil-Spec. However that lightness to me is refreshing in that at 40mm and being designed to be reminiscent of disposable Mil-Spec timepieces, it feels appropriate. Unless you’ve ever handled an aluminum (or titanium) watch before, nothing will prepare you for that. It’s lightweight – like, strangely lightweight. Two things really drew me in: the chronograph movement (which I’ll get to later) and the aluminum case. I found myself totally drawn to the 40mm MK1 aluminum chronograph model number TW2T10700 *. These span across 3 handers to chronographs ranging in size from 40mm to 42mm. ![]() So there are over 10 styles offered in the MK1 collection. However if you want a timepiece that pays homage to its own place in US Military Watch history for an affordable price and one that’s offered in many different styles to suite your tastes, then let’s do this thing. If you want something that’s actually designed to Mil-Spec you have plenty of options elsewhere. With that in mind, please don’t think that the modern Timex MK1 collection in any way meets any sort of Mil-Spec designation. Check out the following page for some detailed history on this specific service issued Mil-Spec Timex.įor our purposes, it’s important to know that the original Timex issued to the US Marines was focused on functionality first as well as being designed to be disposable (they were resin cases). These were produced under the MIL-W-46374B military design specification. If you didn’t know (like I didn’t until recently), Timex did supply timepieces to the US Marines in the 70s/80s. These are modern watches that Tiimex has designed and created to pay homage to their military watch history. But then I learned about the MK1 collection. I honestly thought I was pretty well familiar (at a high level) with most of Timex’s offerings. Timex MK1 Watches and The Brand’s Military Historyįrom their design studio in Milan, Timex has reached time and time again into their history for inspiration that’s authentic, affordable, and aesthetically pleasing. “There’s no way a restaurant with Jambalaya, Shepherd’s Pie, and Chicken Enchiladas is good.” …Well it is! In that vein I recently discovered the Timex MK1 watch collection and was forced to reassess my opinions again. It’s like the menu at Cheesecake Factory. Dress watches, sport watches, smart watches, casual watches, collab watches… and each type of watch with its own set of unique design collections. Timex has become a type of horological void that I sometimes get lost in. I hold this idea close that any brand offering too many products, can’t be good. My opinion won’t change on that.īut one thing that Timex has continued to challenge my opinion on is whether a brand can offer too many types of products. From their recent deep dive into the historical reissue product release market to their consistently offered and most recognized models, no other brand today in horology is offering affordable and homologically interesting timepieces as Timex. Some collectors see Timex as an American legacy brand with horological history in spades while others see them as just another “quartz watch brand that you can buy in Target.”Īt TBWS we aren’t shy in our love affair with Timex. Please note that battles are highly situational: this section only mentions cards that have mechanics that, for any reason, are particularly effective with/against, or particularly ineffective against Superman. Since power generation rate affects amount of power gained from his passive, any gear that increases power generation is a good choice for Superman. Nekron's Scythe is a great gear for him as his SP2 has an unblockable hit that will freeze the opponent, allowing the final hit to deal greatly boosted damage. When geared with the Gingold Soda and the Killer Croc Companion Card EVOLVED, while blocking, he will not take any basic damage at all while still being able to reflect damage back at them. This long delay also forces him to deal some damage when most of the special's threat (the unblockable freeze breath) is negated by Invulnerability, denying him a power refund from Tantu Totem. The fourth hit would fall out of the Invulnerability period even when Astro-Harness is maxed, so it is recommended to block it. When relying on Astro-Harness to block his SP2, note there there is a large delay between the 3rd hit (unblockable freeze breath) and the 4th (throwing the explosive). If Superman himself is protected with invulnerability, he will also not deal reflect damage. Invulnerability on his opponent would prevent them from taking reflect damage from Godfall Superman. When blocking with full block gear and teamed with him, Godfall Superman takes 4%-2.5% damage from basic attacks. ![]() After this, Godfall Superman's passive can be calculated additively with other damage reduction for example, Shazam/New 52 reduces Justice League teammates' damage taken by 10%-25%. an unblocked hit that deals 1000 damage could be reduced to 100 solely by block and block gear). The reflected damage will also be reduced accordingly.īlock and block gear's damage reduction is capped at 90% (e.g. Therefore, his passive's damage reduction stacks multiplicatively with block gear (block reduces damage to 75%, gear reduces it to 24%, and passive further halves it). With 3 pieces of 17% block gear, it is 55.5 (12% rounding error causes both 55s and 56s) damage. In multiplayer though, since very little power is generated from being hit by basic attacks, this would be more advantageous to Godfall Superman, allowing him to gain decent power even while blocking (extra damage reduction and faster power generation, but doesn't work on specials compared to Wonder Woman/Regime).Ī 461 hit is normally reduced to 346 (75%) upon blocking. In single player, his opponent receives power both from landing basic attacks and taking reflected hits, resulting in incredibly fast power generation. Power gained from his reflect is affected by power generation rate. While his passive states "successful" block, block-breaking basic attacks can be reflected as long as he was blocking when it lands. Also, his passive seems to round up damage done to him, and round down the reflected damage. Like Black Adam/Regime, his basic attack reflection can KO opponents if they are at critically low health. This doubly-reduced damage is simultaneously dealt to the opponent as purple reflect damage and like reflect special, grants power as if Godfall Superman has hit his opponent with a basic attack. Without gear, he will take a multiplicative 50% damage reduction from basic attacks upon blocking on top of the normal damage reduction (-25% therefore he takes 37.5% basic damage overall when blocking).
